Santur Lessons with Matin Kakavand
Learning music begins with understanding your goals, and Matin tailors each lesson to support your personal musical journey. As an experienced Santur instructor with more than a decade of teaching, she works with students of all ages and skill levels, helping them discover their creativity while developing strong musicianship.
Through individualized, one-on-one lessons, Matin guides students toward reaching their full potential—refining technique, building confidence, and exploring the rich world of Persian traditional music. Her teaching approach is flexible and student-centered, adapting to each learner’s preferred style and pace.
For beginners, Matin introduces the essentials:
• Proper mallet (mezrab) technique
• Note reading and recognition
• Rhythm, counting, and steady tempo
• Simple melodies and foundational exercises
Intermediate and advanced players receive guidance in:
• Persian traditional ornaments
• Technique development (scales, arpeggios, dorrab, trill, tekkiyeh)
• Ear training and musical interpretation
• Repertoire selection and performance preparation
Lessons are offered in 30-, 45-, or 60-minute formats. Parents are welcome to join their children’s sessions to observe and support the learning experience.
