Duduk is one of the most important musical instruments in Armenia. The duduk has been played continually for 4,000–4,500 years, making it one of the oldest musical instruments still in use in the world. This instrument is unique as it is taken directly from nature, which makes its sound warm and close to the heart. The duduk is a double-reed and has eight finger holes in the front and two in the back. The principal features of the duduk are the body, a reed, a regulator and a cap. The duduk is made of aged apricot wood. The duduk is suitable for both solo performances and ensembles.

Program Information

All students are taught the basic instrumental technique, postures, technical exercises, and playing Armenian repertoires. You will learn to play traditional Armenian and Persian songs and your favourite melodies.

Each online duduk lesson takes place between one teacher and one student for either 30 or 60 minutes. For children's sessions, parents can attend their child's classes.

Goals:

Our goal is the development of our students to their highest musical level through private lessons. Creating the correct foundation for technique and appropriate repertoire is of the utmost important thing. Our duduk faculty takes care of utilizing elements of different teaching methods that work best for each student. Beginner students start with the fundamentals, like how to hold the duduk correctly, relaxed posture, how to get sound out of it, breath control, finger placement, reading music, and learning simple songs. Intermediate and advanced students continue to progress with increased proficiency in techniques and significant Armenian repertoire. Our duduk program covers the following subjects:
