Program Information

The piano is a very in-demand instrument. We offer instruction to piano students of every level, every age, and every genre. We provide a wide variety of learning styles and different priorities for our students. Farabius' teaching staff come from diverse backgrounds, but all hold bachelor's or master's degrees in piano, music performance and/or pedagogy.

Each online piano lesson takes place between one teacher and one student for either 30, 45 or 60 minutes. For children's sessions, parents can attend their child's classes.

Goals:

Our goal is to develop our students to the highest musical level through private lessons. Creating the correct foundation for technique and appropriate repertoire is the utmost important thing. Our amazing piano faculty take care to utilize elements of different teaching methods that work best for each student. Beginner students start with the fundamentals, such as learning the keys' names, reading music, rhythm, and progressing from one-hand to two-hand songs. Next, they learn a wide range of technical rudiments, play exercises, scales, and chords to develop the hands, and then we apply those skills to songs. Advanced and experienced students continue to progress with increased proficiency in techniques and exercises, especially through significant repertoire. Our piano class covers the following subjects:

• Note reading and recognition
• Counting, rhythm reading
• The technique (scales, arpeggios)
• Sight reading
• Rudiments of Theory
• Memorization
• Ear training

Levels / Ages offered:

The Farabius Academy of Music offers private piano lessons at all levels and ages. Students in private study can learn with no prior experience, all the way to extensive professional experience. We love to help the youngest piano students get started with music and ensure that they learn everything right from the beginning. We welcome and encourage adults to take online piano lessons as well. We provide a wide range and variety of learning styles and difficulty levels for our students to ensure each individual will grow at their own pace.

Repertoire:

Selecting repertoire is one of the most challenging and essential tasks that we take on in the development of our student's musical education. Students at all levels will be given a repertoire selection from multiple eras of music (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Contemporary, Pop, Folk) to study and perfect.
