Program Information

The Farabius Academy of Music offers private sessions for those who want to learn how to compose music. We can help you to understand composition to a new level and make you a better composer. We would love to help you learn music composition from our certified educators.

Before enrolling in this course, make sure you are eligible to attend this course. In this certificate program, you will learn the skills necessary for success as a composer. Farabius advanced composition certificate program prepares you to write music for solo instruments and different musical ensembles. You work with a professional composer who will mentor you as you compose original music and expand your portfolio. You’ll receive expert feedback to refine your skills in music composition.

This course incorporates more advanced techniques and concepts for contemporary composition and culminates in completing the student's individual major composition project.

In this course, students also analyze the characteristics of various musical styles and eras and compose appropriate music for various creative and professional settings. Students work with the elements of tone, texture and timbre in their own compositions and learn how to use them to create a desired musical atmosphere.

Each online composition lesson takes place between one teacher and one student for either 30 or 60 minutes. (to be more effective, we highly recommend you to enroll for 45 or 60-minute sessions).

Requirements

• Students need to have knowledge of music theory and solfège.
• Students need to have knowledge of harmony, orchestration, and counterpoint.
• Although not a necessity, it is very beneficial that students have some ability to play an instrument.
