Program Information

We will offer you many new and exciting musical opportunities. Whether you are just starting or continuing your education, we would love to help you learn the bassoon from our certified educators. Our unique approach to musical education facilitates a fast and practical learning experience for students of all ages.

Each online bassoon lesson takes place between one teacher and one student for either 30, 45 or 60 minutes. While our bassoon sessions are all private, parents are more than welcome to attend their child’s lessons.

Goals

Our goal is the development of our students to their highest musical level through private lessons. Creating the correct foundation for technique and appropriate repertoire is the utmost important thing. Students will start with the fundamentals, such as bassoon assembly, reed position, breath control, real tones production, finger placement, etc. Intermediate students learn how to play clear sound, articulation, and an overview of tunes, pieces and songs taught. Advanced and experienced students will develop proficiency in long tones, scales, bassoon ornamentation and vibrato, along with learning significant repertoire. Our bassoon class covers the following subjects:

• Note reading and recognition
• Counting, rhythm reading
• Technique (scales, arpeggios, trills, dynamics, ornament)
• Sight reading
• Rudiments of Theory
• Memorization
• Ear training

Repertoire

Selecting repertoire is one of the most challenging and important tasks that we take on in the development of our students’ musical education. We work on the repertoire in these categories: etudes and studies, solo works, concertos, variations, etc., and short pieces. Students at all levels will be given a selection of repertoire from multiple eras of music to study and perfect.

Requirements

• No skills required; you can be a beginner student
• You will need a bassoon, reeds and neck strap
• The most important part of music study takes place at home; the more you practice, the better you will be
• Get excited about learning bassoon, as an inspired learner learns faster and easier
