Private Santour Lessons

Getting to know what you want from learning music is a critical factor for your lessons. At the Farabius, Nima offers individual lessons for Santoor. He has been teaching music for several years and enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities to help them discover their creativity.

He aims to help our students reach their musical peak through one-on-one lessons, focusing on refining their technique and selecting the perfect songs. Our santour teachers employ a variety of teaching styles tailored to each student's preferences. If you're just starting out, we'll guide you through mastering the basics such as holding the mallets (mezrab), reading music, keeping rhythm, and playing simple melodies. For more seasoned players, we'll challenge you with advanced techniques and an array of fantastic Persian santoor music. Here's what our santour program includes:

Note reading and recognition
Iranian traditional ornaments
Counting, rhythm reading
Technique (scales, arpeggios, dorrab, trill, tekkiyeh)
Rudiments of Theory
Ear training

Each online lesson takes place between the teacher and student for either 30, 45 or 60 minutes. For children's sessions, parents can attend their child's classes.

  • No skills required; you can be a beginner student
