Luiz Gustavo Pontes began his piano studies at the age of 7 in Olinda, Brazil.
At the age of 13, he moved to Brasília, the capital of Brazil, where he studied music conducting and composition. In the same year, he started his pedagogical activities that played a crucial role in his academic education.
From 2008 to 2012, he studied at the « Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris,» where he became the pupil of Edson Elias and Jean Marc Luisada. Luiz Gustavo graduated from the « Cycle d'Enseignement Professional Supérier » with honors for his poignant musicality and remarkable technique. In 2012, he was admitted at the « Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris » as a pupil of Judy Chin. Still in 2012, after a rigorous selection, he was chosen among world class to integrate the virtuosity class of the renowned pianist Ricardo Castro at « Haute École de Musique de Fribourg,» in Switzerland, where he pursued a bachelor's degree in music with a specialization in piano and a Master Degree in piano pedagogy.
Currently, Luiz Gustavo Pontes lives in Portugal, where he is attending a Master's Degree in piano performance at the « University of Aveiro ».
He is constantly playing as soloist and as a chamber music pianist, having already performed in several European countries.
Concomitantly to his performing career, he cultivates an intense work as a piano teacher, an activity he considers extremely important for an artist's development.
