Alberto had his first musical experience in his hometown of Siracusa, Sicily, as a saxophonist in one of the local youth wind orchestras, Gruppo Strumentale Orfeo, founded by Nino Cirinnà and conducted by Stefano Cirinnà.
After this, Alberto focused on the study of the saxophone with Vincenzo Morello before moving to Milan to attend the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory where he studied with Marco Bontempo and obtained a Master’s Degree in classical saxophone with Daniele Comoglio in 2017. In addition to the study of saxophone, he has undertaken harmony and counterpoint studies with Elisabetta Brusa and composition studies with Paolo Rimoldi, under whose guidance he obtained a further Master’s Degree in composition, also in 2017.
After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in classical saxophone in 2010, Alberto has taught saxophone privately. In 2017 he began to teach in various music schools based in Milan before arriving at L’Altramusica, where he taught saxophone, ear training, music theory and music ensemble under the ABRSM system. During the same period, he founded Dis [He]nsemble, the piccola orchestra of the Liceo Scientifico “E. Vittorini” of Milan, for which he also wrote the arrangements and served as conductor.
Alongside these educational activities, Alberto has also worked as an arranger, composer and music engraver. His arrangements are included in the records Five Sax at the Movies by Five Sax, Musica Ficta by Milano Saxophone Quartet and Il Canto di una Valle - 50 anni by Coro Sasso Rosso Val di Sole.
He works as a composer and arranger with the publishing house Impronta Edition - UG, where he has published the String Quartet of Giuseppe Verdi arranged for saxophone quartet and LO!, an original piece for solo alto saxophone.
